My Alzheimer's Journey
Part 12 - Good Week In The LowCountry
Even with a delayed arrival due to the heavy rain, our trip to Beaufort has been wonderful. The weather has been near perfect, the Airbnb was a cute little house with a screened porch that our cats enjoyed, the meals have been delicious, and our construction project progressed slightly ahead of schedule.
Best of all, I have been able to connect with some friends.
We are sad that we were unable to spend time with a close friend. Her chronic health issue worsened in recent days. It looks like surgery is around the corner. Linda and I wish her all the best. She is a strong woman so we are confident that she will recover.
I had an appointment with Dr. Clare Wednesday. As always, he provides top-notch medical and emotional care. I enjoy our visits. Dr. Clare is part friend, part counselor, and part medical doctor. He has changed the dosage on my antidepressant medication. We hope this will help me function better and reduce the dark days.
Last night, Linda and I took the guys to Dockside for dinner. This is probably our favorite restaurant in Beaufort. There have been many nights over the past three years sitting at the bar talking to friends and strangers, enjoying a great meal, and chatting with the awesome bartenders.
We are heading home this afternoon. Our moving date has changed from Wednesday to Tuesday, so we will have a busy weekend finishing packing.
I am noticing that my memory is getting worse. I must continue taking steps to increase my neurogenesis. Grilled salmon, healthy greens, and lion’s mane mushrooms are on the weekend menu.
Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this a great trip to Beaufort.

I sure missed seeing the two of you! ❤️
