My Alzheimer's Journey
Part 14 - Move Day
Tuesday, October 7 was our move day.
The day started with me at Lowe’s at six in the morning. I think I was the first customer through their doors. I was on a mission to purchase a few additional boxes. Along the way to the box aisle, I passed a huge display of Christmas decorations. They were blinking, twinkling, and moving in all sorts of animated ways.
In the background of the photo, you will see a Halloween skeleton. Is it just me, or is this a great example of corporate greed? Selling Christmas before Halloween. The poor skeleton looks upset.
Back at home by 6:30, we scrambled to finish packing. Why are the last boxes you pack the hardest to pack? We wrangled the cats into the bathrooms just as TROSA arrived.
What a great team of guys. Hardworking, professional, polite, and respectful. Not to mention strong and cautious with our stuff.
We hit the road about an hour after noontime. The Traverse was loaded with three cats and lots of art work that could not go on the truck.
The truck had to go to TROSA to be weighed before coming to our apartment. This meant unloading did not start until nearly six o’clock. As with the loading, the team of five worked efficiently to unload our furniture, about seventy boxes, and Linda’s art studio table and equipment.
The photo below shows the studio with the table and tool box in place.
After about three hours, the truck was empty. We were starving, so thanks to good friends, we ordered Tikka Masala from a nearby Indian restaurant. We sat among the stacks of boxes and enjoyed a great dinner.
It was a very successful move day. Thanks to everyone who helped us get moved, especially the TROSA team: Walter, Larry, Christian, Tim, and Daniel. Special thanks to James.
