My Alzheimer's Journey
Part - 169 Hump Day Thoughts
I hope everyone is having a good week.
The Alzheimer’s Association International Conference is underway in London. Yesterday, Eisai and Biogen issued a joint statement with results of the real-world Lecanemab in Early Alzheimer's Disease (LEADER) Study. I have been anxiously waiting for these results. Especially, this statement:
“Nearly 83% of early Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients enrolled in the study remained stable (75.9%) or improved (6.6%) while receiving LEQEMBI® therapy over an average of 17 months.”
Is the inconvenience of the bi-weekly infusions, the injection side effects, the ARIA risk, and the high cost of Lecanemab worth having your Alzheimer’s remain stable?
Certainly, remaining stable is much better than progressing. Are there options with better results?
The results of the Phase II-III trials of the Cuban developed drug, NeuroEPO (NeuralCIM) were positive:
More than 80% of the clinical trial participants showed their cognitive decline stopped.
Cognition improved in 54% of the participants.
There are several challenges associated with NeuroEPO (NeuralCIM). The greatest concern is Trump deciding to invade Cuba.
Let’s discuss the Lecanemab LEADER Study. Please leave a comment with your thoughts.
I am doing about the same as I was a week ago. Late afternoons and nights are challenging in terms of my mood, anxiety, emotions, and depression.
Yesterday, I took a town bus to the grocery store and the bank. It was nice to get out for a few hours. The Chapel Hill bus service is fantastic - especially, since it is free. I suppose the bus service is a perk of living in a college town.
Thanks to those of you who made a donation since Monday. I greatly appreciate your support. I suggested a donation of $5 per day would adequately compensate me for my research and writing time, help Linda and I bridge our income gap, and hopefully, not be too painful for my subscribers. This morning, I quickly looked to see what $5 will buy in the United States. The short answer is - not much!
This is what I found:
value-menu item like a McDouble or fries at McDonald’s
medium drip coffee
small fountain drink at a convenience store
gallon of milk
maybe a pound of apples or oranges
bag of potato chips or cookies
If you have not donated, please consider clicking below and scheduling a monthly contribution.
Thank you!
