My Alzheimer's Journey
Part 65 -Friday January 9, 2026

Friday is when my writing lightens up a bit and I try to help you get the weekend started in a fun way.
The Beatles fifth album, titled Beatles ‘65 went #1 on this day in 1965. Released in December 1964, it jumped from number 98 straight to number 1, making the biggest jump to the top position in the history of the Billboard album charts up to that time. It remained at number 1 for nine straight weeks. One of my favorite songs on the album is I’ll Follow The Sun. I suggest you enjoy the music while reading the rest of my post.
Sticking with music for a moment, on this day in 2001, Apple announced the creation of iTunes. Six years later, Steve Jobs announced the iPhone on this day.
Richard Nixon was born on this day in 1913.
For the country music fans, Crystal Gayle celebrates her 75th birthday today. She will be performing in Key West, Florida, April 7. Book your flight!
January 9, 1952, President Harry S. Truman gave his State of the Union address. He warns Americans that they are “moving through a perilous time,” and calls for vigorous action to meet the communist threat.
If you were in San Francisco on this day in 1973, you could enjoy dinner at Trader Vic’s. While eating Steak Hawaiian and drinking a Mia Tia, you may see Frank Sinatra sitting at the bar.
On this day in 2008, the University of Rhode Island published, “New study makes strong case for link between childhood lead exposure, Alzheimer’s disease.”
