398 days. That is the number of days since my Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis.
My journey since September 8, 2025, has been akin to riding a roller coaster that will never return to its starting point. This roller coaster has an occasional peak as it proceeds on a steady downward trajectory. There are many twists and turns with surprises around every curve.
While the downward slope is gradual today, at any moment my roller coaster will make a severe downward movement. As my roller coaster heads sharply downward, the speed is expected to increase exponentially.
As a child, I was fearful of roller coasters. I was afraid of the height, the speed, and the rapid movement through the turns. Today, I fear my roller coaster because I know when it stops, my life has stopped.
Until my roller coaster makes its final turn, I must seek joy in the occasional peaks, hold on tight for the sudden drops, and rest while the coaster is coasting.

I’m not a thrill seeker myself, (as if), but I do appreciate you sharing it.
