My Alzheimer's Journey
Part 147 - The Week In Review May 4 - 8
The Week In Review
We started the week with the announcement that Axsome Therapeutics drug, Auvelity had received FDA approval for treatment of agitation due to Alzheimer’s disease. I read reports yesterday that several Wall Street analysts have updated the fair value estimate for Axsome Therapeutics stock (AXSM) from US$223.99 to US$266.94 since Auvelity’s approval. Analysts believe Auvelity will generate significant cash. Of course, that is assuming Auvelity will be successful treating agitation. My report Monday raised a few concerns about the efficacy of Auvelity. I will monitor Auvelity closely.
Tuesday, I wrote an update on my Alzheimer’s progression. I have good days and bad days. Overall, I am doing well. I credit Lecanemab for slowing the progression of my Alzheimer’s.
I did not post on Wednesday. On Thursday, I shared the fascinating story of Doug Whitney. Can you imagine expecting to develop Alzheimer’s disease in your 50’s since you carry a mutation of the Presenilin 2 gene; yet, you are now in your late 70’s without Alzheimer’s? If you missed my article, I encourage you to read it.
We wrapped the week up with an article about diets that may help prevent or slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. With the information I learned about the MIND diet still fresh in my mind, Linda and I headed to our local Farmer’s Market this morning. It is a beautiful day and the sunshine felt wonderful. We bought some organic leafy greens and two locally made pastas. The pastas are mushroom ravioli and goat cheese and honey ravioli.
After consideration of numerous economic factors (the cost of gasoline, groceries, and damn near everything we consume), I am dropping the suggested minimum donation to support my writing. This doesn’t mean that donations are not needed. In fact, due the rising costs of everything we consume, I need your support more than ever.
Please donate at any level that feels right. You’ll receive full access to the blog, my new Saturday feature, The Week in Review, and a permanent 5% discount at my online store. Use the code, BLOG at checkout to receive your discount.
I never want a person’s financial situation to stand between them and the support they find here, but I also want to ensure My Alzheimer’s Journey is sustainable. If you’re able to, please consider contributing so I can continue to share insight with you and the many caregivers and families who are following My Alzheimer’s Journey.
I am so grateful to have you alongside me on my Alzheimer’s journey.
